Spread the love

If you’re contemplating changing your lifestyle in any major way, I would suggest taking things a step at a time rather than trying to make a large change all at once. For example, for many years, my hasband resisted the idea of buying eggs from a local farmer rather than the big grocery chain. As a child, he had a bad experience with a brown egg and heartily disliked the idea of those local eggs. It did take a bit of work to convince him to try our local farmer’s products, but now he is a huge fan – the local eggs are bigger and have much more flavor than the ones from the grocery store.

I’m tempted to list all the little changes we have made over the last few years that he was skeptical about at first. It’s a process that can take time. Dear husband was raised in the city and his family was used to simply going to the store to purchase whatever they needed, while I was brought up on a small homestead where most of our food came from our own gardens.

Sometimes, convincing others to make a change can be very daunting, so it might help to focus on an aspect that fits in with their own views. Dear hubby (DH) likes to save money , so he is fairly easy to get on board if the intended change is one that will save money in the long run. When we stopped using paper towels and started using tea towels and cloth napkins, he soon saw how much cheaper it was. We each have our own napkins for the week and they go in the wash along with the tea towels and table cloths at the end of the week. Considering how expensive paper towels are these days, the cost of cloth napkins pay for themselves very quickly.

Look around your house and see what little changes you can make – you might be surprised!
